Early intervention helps students stay on track for graduation

Students at risk of dropping out have trouble planning for the future, struggle academically, have low attendance records and often have special needs. Language and literacy skills are factors, as well as the socioeconomic status of their family.

Providing multiple pathways to graduation can lower dropout rates. Alternative schools and online credit recovery courses give students more options to earn their diploma. But just assigning students that are behind to a credit recovery program alone might not address the other issues holding them back.
