Oklahoma’s Common Core replacement standards up for consideration

The Oklahoma Board of Education will consider a new set of standards called the Oklahoma Academic Standards, a replacement for the Common Core standards that were dropped in 2014.

The new standards are more grade-level-specific, KOCO reports, and focus largely on college readiness for students.

The Board of Ed will have to approve the standards plan in order for it to move to the state legislature for a vote, and if approved, the standards will “immediately” be implemented and take effect in the 2016-17 academic year.
