Austin Community College Employees Call for Raises

A group of faculty and staff members at Austin Community College has called on the Board of Trustees to raise their wages in response to rising costs of living.

The employees attended a board meeting Monday to advocate for the pay raise. Some held signs that called for a 10 percent raise for all employees, KXAN reported. The group from the college’s faculty and staff union, a local chapter of the American Federation of Teachers, also asked that the minimum wage for all Austin Community College workers be raised to $22 per hour. The Austin City Council voted to raise the minimum wage for city employees to that amount last week.
