Nonprofit works to make sure students don’t go hungry

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A local nonprofit is working to ensure that students in the South Portland area don’t go hungry during an upcoming break in classes.

The Locker Project is helping to stock the shelves of food pantries located inside Maine schools so children don’t go hungry during vacation next week. Forty percent of students enrolled in South Portland schools receive either free or reduced-price lunches.
