The transformation is timed such that the rye grass flourishes during the colder months, only to be gradually replaced by the perennial Bermuda grass as warmer weather sets in. The goal is to achieve a pristine, thriving lawn by the time graduation ceremonies roll around.

What sets this transformation apart is the balance between immediate aesthetic appeal and long-term planning. Everett underscores that while the plush green grass is the immediate focus, the concerted efforts are part of a more significant endeavor. By tackling issues like soil compaction and poor water infiltration caused by heavy foot traffic and construction, the groundskeeping team ensures that these changes are not merely superficial. The aerification process helps manage moisture levels in the soil, making it more absorbent and thus healthier for the grass. Improved irrigation systems further assist in maintaining this delicate balance, mitigating runoff problems and promoting greener, healthier turf.
