How Security Maturity Assessments Can Protect Your University from Cybercriminals

Higher education institutions are in a vulnerable position when it comes to cybersecurity. In an alert issued by the FBI earlier this year, the nation’s top law enforcement agency warned that that agents have identified U.S. college and university credentials advertised for sale on the dark web and publicly accessible internet forums.

When breaches occur in higher education, it’s more than just grades that are at stake. Students’ vulnerable information could include their medical histories, physical addresses and more, and research data from universities is a top target for cybercriminals. It is therefore vital that institutions put proper safeguards in place to protect student, faculty, staff and research teams.
